【shore】
n.（海、湖或其他大水域的）岸，滨
shore指与海洋、江河水面相接的陆地，即“海岸、湖岸”，强调从陆地着眼来说明它与水面的衔接，一般前面不加限定词，但the shores of the lake已经有限定关系，所以可以加the，shores可用复数，有时可以on shore表示“在岸上、在陆地上”，与on land有相同的意思，相对与on the sea。
